Our long time friend Chris resides and vends pasta near the Kansas-Missouri border and has been doing it for the last eight years! You can catch him from April to November at the Park Place Farmers’ Market in Leawood, KS or at the busy @OverlandParkFarmersMarket. You can also find him slingin’ pasta year round at the ever-popular @CityMarket in Kansas City, MO.
Each of these markets offers weekly events, including cooking demos, live music, educational exhibits, kid’s activities and much more…stop by, check them out and say hi to Chris!
You can find more information about his markets, including a top seller list, on his website. Also, be sure to follow him on Facebook (@ThePastaPros) and on Twitter, (@Pasta_Pros).
Q. Why did you originally decide to become a Pappardelle’s vendor?
A. The thought of having my own business was very appealing to me. I truly enjoy working with people and wanted a business partner with an established brand. The Pappardelle’s Pasta business model was a very good fit for me that allowed me to utilize my selling/marketing skills and further enhance my personal relationship skills.
Q. What do you enjoy most about working at your farmers’ markets?
A. Meeting and building friendships with the local farmers and vendors. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn about the foods we eat and obtain the freshest, locally grown produce available.
Q. What do you enjoy most about your local community?
A. Our local community still supports midwestern values. Not only have I built a dedicated customer base, I have established some long lasting, personal friendships.
Chris recommends customers to try his top seller, the Garlic Chive Pappardelle, or his personal favorite (and second best seller), the Basil Garlic Fettuccine. When he cooks his favorite pasta, he sautés the cooked noodles in extra virgin olive oil with fresh garden veggies, adds grilled chicken strips and sprinkles some crushed red pepper flakes on top. He ALWAYS adds fresh garlic too. Give this recipe a try!
If you have never tried Pappardelle’s, follow Chris’s lead and try the Italian Pesto Blend – the first pasta he ever tried. He says he, “Simply tossed it with some tomatoes, olive oil and Parmesan cheese, I was hooked.”
- If he could travel anywhere in the world, it would be a lengthy tour through the Mediterranean
- You can find him frequenting several Mexican restaurants in town, but you won’t find Chris eating fast food – his least favorite food is “anywhere I have to order through a speaker”
- His fondest memory is marrying his wife.
- His favorite hobbies include: anything music related, golfing, hiking, and water sports.
Be sure to stop by and say hi to Chris when you see him at the Park Place Farmers’ Market, Overland Park Farmers’ Market or City Market Farmers’ Market. Thanks for traveling with us to the Midwest. Tune in next week…we are heading down to the Sunshine state!
