It’s finally (almost) here! Saturday marks the official beginning of summer. See how well you know summer solstice traditions around the globe with today’s UseYourNoodle trivia challenge! Log on to our Facebook page to compete.

Guess the country! The celebration for the summer solstice is the most traditional, popular, and ancient festival here. Traditions carry on in which women weave crowns from flowers and some men wear crowns of oak leaves. Gathering herbs is popular since they are believed to have magical powers on this day. Together, people roam from house-to-house through the streets singing folk songs. In return, the houses provide a special type of cheese and beer to the celebrators. The people from their houses then join the procession that usually ends on a hilltop or clearing with a large bonfire. People celebrate through the night, as it is a bad omen if you sleep during the night. As dawn approaches before the fire dies, people jump over it for good luck.

We will randomly choose a winner from the contestants with the correct country and the winner will receive a free pound of dry pasta – flavor of their choice! The winner will be announced at 4 pm MST. Please, only one submission per contestant and you can only win once per month. One final disclaimer… If you are a Pappardelle’s vendor, employee, or family member of a vendor or employee, you are not allowed to play. You already know too many of our secrets. Good luck!
